Requirement
A winery in Denmark had two separate systems installed over the years. The first was a Direct Logic PLC and HMI controlling half of the tanks. Later another contractor added EasyIO controllers and a Jace Server with a Web interface to control the other controllers. The Jace server failed and the operators had no way of changing setpoints on the EasyIO system. They also wanted to add extra tanks to their system.
Solution
A Unitronics Unistream HMI with built in Web Server was installed. I used Modbus RTU to communicate with the Direct Logic PLC. We removed the Jace server and installed an additional 2 EasyIO FG32 controllers for the new tanks. I had to reprogramme all existing EasyIO controllers as they were password protected. I communicated with them using Modbus TCP and displayed the information on the Web server.
As far as the operator was concerned, they had a seamless system and all setpoints could be controlled from one interface.
