The filter press is used in a stone cutting factory. They use it to get rid of the solid waste in the water.
The HMI on this filter press failed so whenever they tried to run in Automatic the system would go into alarm but the operator was unable to see any alarms. The original HMI was text based and was an obsolete product. The design was also flawed in that the machine manufacturers had connected the PLC inputs directly to the probes that were measuring liquid levels in the floculant tank, sludge tank and the liquid level coming out of the filter press.
To get this plant up and running took a few steps.
A new set of electrical schematics needed to drafted. This was done on CAD and incorporated all the existing wire numbers
The panel was rewired to suite the new design. We used a Delta SS2 PLC with the Delta DOP B107 HMI
Lastly using the existing manual and discussing with the customer what their expectations were the PLC software and HMI graphics were developed. The final HMI graphics were simple, making it easy for any operator to to easily be able see an overview of the plant.
The final outcome was a satisfied customer who had an automatic operation on the filter press and most importantly a brick of dust that is easy to dispose of.
Overall this was a successful project. Give Shaun a call on 0451 119 044 should this seems like something you may need assistance with.
